Episode # 240 – The grand “ONAM” festival in Kerala – A fitting tribute to King Mahabali!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we had witnessed a crucial juncture wherein King Mahabali grossly disobeys the words of his “Guru”, Sage Shukraachaarya. As Bhagawan Vaamana looks on, Sage Shukraachaarya tries to educate King Mahabali that he is doing a wrong thing by committing for a “Dhaanam” to the little boy. Sage Shukraachaarya warns King Mahabali that this little boy is none other than Bhagawan Vishnu Himself, who has come to outsmart him and capture all the three “Lokhas” by asking for three feet of soil. However, epitome of “Dhaanam” as he is, King Mahabali refutes Sage Shukraachaarya by saying that he’s more than happy to give Vaamana whatever he wants, if he really is Bhagawan Vishnu Himself!

Saying thus, King Mahabali goes ahead to pour the water from his “Kamandalam” vessel on to the hands of Bhagawan Vaamana. Unable to resist himself, Sage Shukraachaarya wants to desperately save King Mahabali from what is going to unfold. Thus, he takes the form of a small fly, enters into the entrance of the “Kamandala” vessel and blocks it. As King Mahabali tries to pour the water, it doesn’t flow into Bhagawan Vaamana’s hands! Seeing this, Bhagawan Vaamana realized who was playing the ploy here! Hence he take a small “Dharba” stick from his waist, pokes through the entrance of the “Kamandala” vessel. Unable to bear the sharpness of the stick, Sage Shukraachaarya falls on the ground by losing one of his eyes! Thus, the water freely flows from the vessel to Bhagawan Vaamana’s hands! The “Dhaanam” is thus officiated!

As the “Dhaanam” is now official and as the entire set of audience is watching this event, Bhagawan Vaamana starts to grow. He grows in an unimaginable speed and size. It is to be remembered that King Mahabali has committed himself to donate three feet of soil. Thus, with His mammoth size, Bhagawan Vaamana measures one foot of soil with all of the “Bhoolokha” (The surface). Now the second feet of soil – Bhagawan Vaamana raises his other foot and measures all of the “Aakaasha” (Bhuvar Lokha) and the “Deva Lokha” (Suvar Lokha) together.

Now the third foot of soil is remaining! With just two feet, Bhagawan has measured the entire three “Lokhas” of the world and now Bhagawan is asking King Mahabali thus, “Oh Mahabali! You had committed for three feet of soil. I’ve measured two feet of it with all of the world. Now tell me where is the third feet of soil!”

This is where, Bhagawan Vaamana obtained the name “Trivikrama”. Here, “Tri” means three. “Krama” means feet. Stunned by what has just conspired, King Mahabali ran out of words! Who was once conspired by him as a little boy, is standing in front of him with a mammoth size, having measured the entire world, along with it’s three “Lokhas”, with one more foot of soil remaining to be given! What would poor King Mahabali say now? He was clearly outsmarted by Bhagawan Vishnu! Sage Shukraachaarya was right in what he said! King Mahabali discarded his Guru’s words and thus ended up giving the entire world to Bhagawan Vishnu!

Unfazed by what has just happened, King Mahabali makes up his mind. Anyway, he was more than happy to be known to the world as an epitome of “Dhaanam” and thus, did not care that he has lost his entire wealth to Bhagawan Vishnu! Anyway, all of the wealth, name, fame, etc. in this world are all Bhagawan’s property, isn’t it? Who are we to claim things in this world as ours? Making up his mind thus, King Mahabali replies, “Oh Bhagawan Vishnu! I knew that you were the person in the form of the little boy who had come to me, asking for three feet of soil! However, I had accepted for the deal, because I wanted to be known as the epitome of the noble characteristic called “Dhaanam”. Now I’m prepared to give my head to your feet, as the third foot of soil, which is remaining! Please keep your feet on my head and with it, I’ll finish my chapter in this world. I’m happy that I’m fortunate enough to have your divine feet on me!”

Saying thus, King Mahabali continues further thus, “Oh Bhagawan Vishnu! I have just one wish that I would like to have from you!” Bhagawan Vishnu replies thus, “Oh Mahabali! I’m impressed with your character and nature and I’m ready to grant any wish that you ask for! So please ask me whatever you want and it is my bound duty to grant it! You’ve had the heart to give the entire world as a “Dhaanam” to me, and I’m indebted to your nature and character!” As Bhagawan Vishnu praises him thus, King Mahabali requests thus, “Oh Bhagawan! From now, atleast once in a year, I should be able to visit my people and should see them happy and cheerful! I should be able to dwell in each person’s home and should see them immersed in spirituality, peace and happiness! Please grant this one wish for me!” As Bhagawan Vishnu hears this from King Mahabali, He was overwhelmed with joy and grants the wish immediately!

It is only because of this wish, we have the famous festival called “Onam” in Kerala (A state in southern India), being celebrated with lot of grandeur every year. It is a very popular and one of the biggest festivals for people in this state. It is thus believed that King Mahabali visits each of their homes and people receive their dear king with a beautifully designed “Attha-Poo-Kalam” (A beautiful floral design), with lamps lit all over their houses and with a grand feast (“Sadhya”) of different varieties of food.

Thus, with this, we come to the end of Bhagwan Vishnu’s “Vaamana Avatara”. For today, let us experience this blissful incarnation of Bhagawan Vishnu and enjoy it to the fullest. We shall wait till the next episode to commence the next important event! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 239 – Sage Shukraachaarya loses his eye while trying to stop King Mahabali!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we had witnessed King Mahabali getting ready to give the “Dhaanam” that Bhagawan Vaamana is asking for – Three feet of soil. Initially when Bhagawan Vaamana proposes this idea, King Mahabali couldn’t believe his ears. He took this as an insult to his great noble quality of donating! He asked Bhagawan Vaamana thus, “Oh little boy! Are you serious with what you’re asking me? Look at your feet! They’re so small and tender! Is it with these tender little feet that you’re asking for three feet of soil? I couldn’t believe it! Else, another doubt emerges in my mind – Are you a real Brahmin boy or are you faking yourself? Tell me the truth! I expected that you would ask something like gold or ornaments or money or whatever as a donation. But you’re just asking for such a small thing!” Upon King Mahabali’s exclamation, Bhagawan Vaamana replies back thus, “Oh King Mahabali! As per the definition of a ‘Brahmin’, a person should be contented with whatever he has and whatever other people give wholeheartedly. A brahmin should not demand things from others and this should be avoided! Hence, I’m very much contented with just these three feet of soil. If you’re willing to give it to me, please go ahead! Else, it’s fine! I’m leaving this place right away!”

From this reply of Bhagawan Vaamana, we come to understand an important aspect here. In fact, this is an important message for all of us here – When is a person considered to be a Brahmin? Is it something to do only with wearing a sacred thread around our shoulders and waist? The answer is “No”! Being a “Brahmin” is much beyond the external appearance. A person is considered to be a true Brahmin if he / she lives happily with whatever they have with them. A Brahmin should not demand money or wealth from others. A Brahmin should ideally not touch money with their hands. All what their job is to do the “Veda-Adhyayana(Becoming scholarly in the spiritual texts such as Vedas, Upanishads, etc.), propagate it to the world for the benefit of the world, and not for the benefit of themselves! A Brahmin should only live with the “Bhiksha” that others are giving them for their Vedic chanting. A Brahmin should not demand that he wants this much amount of money for propagating the Vedas. We should understand here that Vedas, Upanishads, etc. are not items that can be “sold for commercial purpose”! Of course, if I’ve to talk all these today, I’ll have people standing at my doorstep with sticks in their hands! 😊 All what I’m explaining here is nothing but Bhagawan’s words! If Bhagawan Himself has elucidated it this way, it is upto us to follow it!

Moving on thus, as Bhagawan Vaamana gives a stern reply, King Mahabali couldn’t refute much. Thus he agrees to Bhagawan Vaamana’s deal of “offering three feet of soil”. Hence, he takes the “Kamandala” full of water and is about to pour the water into Bhagawan Vaamana’s hands, signifying that the “Dhaanam” is officially done. It is at this point, Sage Shukraachaarya, who is the “Guru” of King Mahabali, stops him from pouring the water into Bhagawan Vaamana’s hands. Sage Shukraachaarya warns that King Mahabali is doing a great mistake by accepting to offer three feet of soil. He warns King Mahabali of Bhagawan Vishnu’s ploy here! Upon listening to Sage Shukraachaarya’s accord, King Mahabali replies thus, “Oh Sage! Why do you want to stop me from giving now? Till date, the world has recognized me as a noble person because of this quality only! If Bhagawan Vishnu Himself has come to obtain something from me, so be it! I’ll rather be glad to offer Him whatever He wants! What kind of a divine opportunity I’ve got, to donate something to Bhagawan Himself? So, I’m going to proceed with my agenda of giving Vaamana the three feet of soil that he has asked for!”

Thus, King Mahabali discards his Guru’s words and goes ahead with the “Dhaanam” to Bhagawan Vaamana. Upon seeing this, Sage Shukraachaarya decides to somehow save his “Sishya” (Student) from the wrath of Bhagawan Narayana. Hence, he takes a form of a small insect and enters into the opening of the “Kamandala” vessel, thus blocking the entrance through which the water has to flow. As King Mahabali takes the Kamandala in his hands and tries pouring the water onto Bhagawan Vaamana, the water is not coming out! Upon seeing this, Bhagawan Vaamana was amused! He was thinking within himself thus, “Oh no! Even if this Mahabali wants to give something, his teacher is trying to create a hurdle! I’ll have to first tame down this Sage Shukraachaarya before taming King Mahabali!”

Thinking thus, Bhagawan Vaamana takes out a small “Dharba” (Grass) stick from his waist, enters it into the opening of the Kamandala and moves it in and out! Upon moving the stick in and out, the “blockade” was removed! Sage Shukraachaarya loses one of his eyes and thus, falls on the floor! Now the Kamandala is free of any sort of blockade! Thus, Bhagawan Vaamana says, “Oh King Mahabali! You may now proceed with the Dhaanam!”

As Bhagawan says thus, King Mahabali pours the water on to Bhagawan Vaamana’s little and tender hands! At this moment, a great event is going to unfold! What is that? Let’s wait till the next episode to experience and enjoy this great event! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 238 – Sage Shukraachaarya stops King Mahabali!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we were at an important juncture, wherein little Vaamana is making his way to King Mahabali’s place, wherein a huge “Yagna” is being performed. As per the protocol, King Mahabali has invited all the Brahmin Pandits from all over the country to come and take part in it. As this news reaches Bhagawan Vaamana, he decides to be part of it as well, and perhaps take this is an opportunity to outsmart King Mahabali. We’ve seen yesterday that Bhagawan Vaamana is not going to kill Mahabali, although he is a Raakshasa by background. This is because of two reasons – Firstly, King Mahabali is a family descendent of Prahlaada and because of the assurance given to Prahlaada by Bhagawan Narasmiha, he is not going to be killed. Secondly, King Mahabali was an epitome of “Dhaanam” or “donating anything and everything to everyone around”. This is a great “Punya-Kaarya” (Noble deed) and because King Mahabali was an epitome of this deed, Bhagawan Vaamana decides not to kill him. However, having said that, the three “Lokhas” which were abducted by King Mahabali have to be reinstated to Indra and Co. There is no change to this agenda. Hence, Bhagawan Vaamana has to act a bit smart here. What is he going to do? Let us witness the interesting set of events that unfolded.

As Bhagawan Vaamana arrives at the venue where the Yagna was being offered, King Mahabali welcomes Him with all necessary rituals and respect. As part of the welcoming ritual, King Mahabali requests Bhagawan Vaamana to ask and obtain anything that He wants and desires!

At this point, Sage Sukhaachaarya explains a beautiful point here – As Bhagawan Vaamana makes His way, all of us know that Goddess Mahalakshmi is always in His heart, isn’t it? We should understand that this incarnation of Bhagawan Vishnu is supposed to be a “Brahmacharya”, which signifies that this person is not married! Here is where, Bhagawan Vishnu plays an important trick – He requests Goddess Mahalakshmi to exit Her place from His heart for a few days, until He comes back! However, Goddess Mahalakshmi is equally smart to turn down Bhagawan’s request, saying that, “Oh Bhagawan! You’re trying to play smart here! You’re trying to remove me from your heart, which is never going to happen anytime in this world!” Hearing thus, Bhagwan Vishnu thinks of a different plan – He takes a blanket made of deer’s skin and covers His chest portion as He was walking towards King Mahabali’s place. Goddess Mahalakshmi questions this too and Bhagawan replies thus, “Oh Devi! The place wherever you’re residing will be your “Antah-Pura” isn’t it? Every king would like his “Antah-Pura” to be shielded and covered so that no other male would look into it, isn’t it? My heart is your “Antah-Pura” isn’t it? This is why I’m covering it with this sheet!” Upon hearing this, Goddess Mahalakshmi was amused, but she realizes that she has got a befitting reply from Bhagawan, to which she couldn’t really refute! 🙂

There is an inner meaning to this too – If Goddess Mahalakshmi casts her look at King Mahabali, how is Bhagawan going to snatch all his wealth? Goddess Mahalakshmi is the Goddess of wealth, isn’t it? If Her divine grace flows through, who can even stop people from getting rich? Hence, Bhagawan makes this smart move to shield Goddess Mahalakshmi, so that Her grace doesn’t fall on King Mahabali! 😊

Thus, as Bhagawan Vaamana reaches King Mahabali’s place, Sage Sukhaachaarya explains this accord very beautifully and amusingly as well! He explains that King Mahabali was sitting several steps higher than the ground and was surrounded by bodyguards and his ministers. Of course, all of us know that Mahabali was a great king and he rightly deserved all of this! However, as little Vaamana makes his way through, the moment He asked for just three feet of sand, this was like an insult to the mighty King Mahabali! He replies thus, “Oh little boy! I don’t know what to say! I thought you would ask for a girl for your marriage, or for wealth, money, gold, etc. but what are you going to do with just three feet of soil? Are you trying to insult a great king in me? I don’t think you’re a genuine Brahmin boy!”

Upon hearing thus from King Mahabali, Bhagwan Vaamana replies thus, “Oh King Mahabali! Let me make you understand the correct definition of the phrase “Brahmin” – A person who is contented with whatever he has, is a real Brahmin! Hence, if I don’t get contented with these three feet of soil, I’m never going to get any sort of contention even if I ask you for the entire world! If you’re interested to give me what I ask, please do. Else I’m leaving immediately!” As King Mahabali listens to the stern words of little Vaamana, he couldn’t really refute Him with an argument further. Hence, he brings the “Kamandala” (A type of vessel) full of water and is about to pour the water from the vessel, into Vaamana’s hands! Only if the water is poured from the “Kamandala” to another person, it is officially considered as “Dhaanam”.

It is at this point, Sage Shukraachaarya comes to the scene! Great Sage as he is, Sage Shukraachaarya  quickly realizes what is going on and what is conspiring here! He immediately stops King Mahabali from pouring the water and says thus, “Oh Mahabali! Why are you acting stupid? By giving this assurance to this boy, you’re committing a grave mistake! Please realize that this little boy who is standing in front of you is not just a mere Brahmin boy! He’s none other than Bhagawan Vishnu Himself! He has come here to snatch your wealth and power, by outsmarting you! If this water flows on to His hands, you’re going to be in great danger! Hence, stop this immediately!”

Saying thus, Sage Shukraachaarya tries to stop King Mahabali from giving what Bhagawan Vaamana is asking for! What is King Mahabali’s reaction going to be? Is he going to obey Sage Shukraachaarya’s words, or is he going to go ahead with his “Dhaanam”? Let’s wait till the next episode to witness the interesting event that is going to unfold! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 237 – Little Vaamana requests “THREE FEET” of soil from King Mahabali!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we had witnessed the important moment of Bhagawan Vishnu incarnating as Bhagawan Vaamana. As a result of the staunch and auspicious “Payo-Vrata” undertaken by Aditi, mother of Devas, Bhagawan Vishnu decides that it is time now to teach King Mahabali a lesson. He thus incarnates as a small little stout boy with a handsome and a pleasing look. As little Vaamana grows up, his parents Aditi and Kartama Prajapati initiate him into the “Upanayana” and thus Vaamana becomes a “Brahmachaari”. According to the norms, little Vaamana has to now obtain the “Bhiksha” from others and only with that, he has to make his living. As little Vaamana becomes a “Brahmachaari”, the first “Bhiksha” was given to him by none other than Bhagawan Shiva and Goddess Parvati Devi!

As little Vaamana sets out as a small Brahmachaari kid, the entire world is struck in awe upon seeing this handsome little boy! Everybody come out and pamper the little child with whatever they can offer, and little Vaamana is very happy to obtain all what people are giving him. As Vaamana was making his way through, we must remember one thing here – His primary agenda of incarnation is to re-obtain all the three “Lokhas” of the world from King Mahabali and reinstate them to Indra’s leadership. It is also to be noted here by readers that, Bhagawan Vaamana cannot kill King Mahabali. Although being a Raakshasa, unlike others such as Hiranyaaksha, Hiranya-Kashibu, Ravana, Kamsa, etc. why didn’t Bhagawan kill Mahabali here? It is to be noted here that, when Bhagawan Narasimha saved Prahlaada from the clutches of his father Hiranya-Kashibu, He had given an assurance to the little child thus, “Oh Prahlaada! From today onwards, I shall never kill anybody who comes as part of your future generation. Your whole clan from today is safe and secure! I’m saying this because I’ve killed your father in front of your eyes, which pains my heart so much! I don’t want to inflict more pain to your family and to the future generation of your clan and hence, I give you my assurance that I’m not going to kill anybody from your family henceforth!” Owing to this assurance, since this Mahabali hails from Prahlaada’s clan, Bhagawan Vishnu cannot kill him. However, He has to retrieve all the three “Lokhas” that he has abducted from Indra.

Secondly, King Mahabali was a great person by character. Although being a Raakshasa, he was not as treacherous like any of his predecessors like Hiranyaksha or Hiranya-Kashibu. King Mahabali was steadfast in his character and was a person who was known to donate anything and everything at will, whomever asks for it. In other words, King Mahabali was a “universal donor” and he keeps giving to all people who comes to him with any sort of needs. Thus, since King Mahabali was such a noble person by character, Bhagawan Vishnu decides that it is not right on His part to kill him. Rather, He should employ some other “friendly” means to obtain the three “Lokhas” from King Mahabali. Bhagawan Vishnu has to employ the “Saama” methodology here to convince, cheat and smartly finish His job!

One fine day, King Mahabali decides to perform a huge “Yagna” (A type of spiritual offering) and thus invites a huge number of Brahmin Pandits for it. This news comes across to Bhagawan Vaamana as well, and He thus decides to attend this Yagna. Deciding thus, little Vaamana sets out. He’s still a stout little boy, and by this time he has learnt and gained mastery over all the Vedas and Upanishads. He is now going to the court of King Mahabali and is about to ask for three feet of soil as a donation. This is going to be a very interesting event here.

As little Vaamana makes His way to King Mahabali’s courtroom, everybody including the king were overwhelmed upon seeing a little boy entering inside. All of them, including King Mahabali rush to the entrance and welcome Him with all the due respects with which a Brahmin Pandit has to be welcomed. King Mahabali personally does all the required rituals of welcoming and asks the little boy thus, “Oh little child! You’ve come all the way to be a part of this great Yagna that is organized by me! So, please ask me whatever you would like to want! I shall grant it to you without any prejudice!”

As King Mahabali gives an assurance thus, Bhagawan Vaamana sees this as a chance to outsmart him! He thus asks for three feet of soil from King Mahabali. Hearing thus from little Vaamana, King Mahabali was amused to bits! He replies to the child thus, “Oh little child! Is this what you want? Are you sure? I thought you would ask for food grains or money or wealth, etc.! What’re you going to do with just three feet of sand?” Upon hearing this from King Mahabali, Bhagawan Vaamana reiterates his stance that three feet of sand is all what He wants and doesn’t need anything more!

As the little Vaamana is firmly sticking to His stance, people were amused, including King Mahabali! Little did anybody understand that there is a huge ploy behind this, except for one person! Now who is this one person who understood what exactly was going on? How did that person react? What is going to happen next? Let’s wait till the next episode to witness an interesting event that is going to unfold! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 236 – BHAGAWAN VAAMANA takes birth to outsmart King Mahabali!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we had witnessed Aditi, mother of the Devas undertaking the strict “Payo-Vrata”. Her sole pointed agenda is to somehow obtain a son who can single-handedly take on Mahabali and the Raakshasas, defeat them and reinstate all the wealth and kingdoms to Indra and the Devas. This “Payo-Vrata” is being undertaken by Aditi on the instructions of her husband Kartama-Prajapati. Accordingly, Aditi is following all the strict austerities as given in the long list. The “Payo-Vrata” continues for the next twelve days without a break. She installs a “Vigraha” of Bhagawan Vishnu and continues with the strict spiritual practices.

As Aditi completes the twelve-day marathon with full dedication and sincerity, there is going to be a miracle happening in the month of “Aavani(Normally the month of Mid-August to Mid-September in today’s English calendar).

“Aachaarya gnyaana sampannam vasthraabharana dhenubhihi!

Vittham virinchathuh karmaveeryaha chathurbhujaha shanka gadhaabhya chakraha!!

Vischanga maasaaya lalithaayatekshanaha!

Srivatsa vakshaaha valayaangatholasath kreeta kaanchi guna noopuraadhibhihi!!”

Here, Sage Shukaahcaarya beautifully describes the birth of Bhaagwan Vishnu in this world, yet again. He first describes the auspicious time at which Bhagawan takes birth. He takes birth during the “Bhaadrapada” month, on the day when the “Sravana” star falls, which is also the “Dvaadasi” (12’th day of the month), and during the “Abhijin Muhurtha” of the day. This “Abhijin Muhurta” is also referred to as “Vijaya”, which means that if a baby is born during this “Muhurta”, he / she would rule the whole world! This is a very rare occasion and it is during this occasion does Bhagawan Vishnu take birth as “Bhagawan Vaamana”. This is a very important incarnation of Bhagawan Vishnu and it is part of the main ten incarnations that all of us talk about. This child was named “Vaamana” and was a very short, little boy. Upon seeing this short and stout little boy, people were amazed with His beautiful and handsome appearance!

As the child grew up, he never became tall for his age at any point in time. He remained short all through his life till then. Upon seeing his short appearance, many didn’t understand why is there no growth phenomenon taking place for this boy, as for other young boys of his age. In fact, we should understand here that this is the same Vaamana” who is going to grow into a mammoth size within few years from now! As Bhagawan Vaamana grows in size in front of King Mahabali, He is going to be called as “Bhagawan Trivikrama”, as He is going to measure all the three worlds (Lokhas) together with his one foot! We’re going to witness this beautiful story in some time. But for now, Bhagawan Vaamana is a short and a stout young Brahmin boy.

As Bhagawan Vaamana attains the age of seven, his parents wanted to perform the all-important “Upanayana” function. This is a very important function that is performed even today amongst the Brahmin community all over India, wherein the boy wears the “Sacred Thread” (Poonool or Saarani) for the first time. This is usually an elaborate two-day function and all our family members, friends, relatives, etc. are invited. In similar lines, Aditi and Kartama-Prajapati wanted to perform the “Upanayana” function for their little child Vaamana. This was a grand and an auspicious function, wherein Bhagawan Soorya (Sun God) Himself came down to initiate this child into the all-important “Gaayathri Mantra”. It is to be understood and reminded to all our readers that this important “Gayathri Mantra” is performed towards Bhagwaan Soorya only. If this same Bhagawan Soorya himself comes down and initiates Vaamana into chanting the “Gayathri Mantra”, we can imagine how significant and grand this function would have been! Sage Kashyapa gifts Vaamana with the auspicious “Mekala”. Bhagawan Brihaspati initiates little Vaamana into the “Brahma-Suthra”. Goddess Bhoomadevi appears in person and gifts Vaamana with the little umbrella that He possess all the time with him. Bhagawan Bramha too appears in person and gifts Vaamana with two “Kamandalas” (Ear rings). Thus, the “Upanayana” function was celebrated in an extremely auspicious and a grand manner. Of course, I’ve just explained this in a little brief, but Sage Sukhaachaarya has extensively spoken about through a sizeable number of slokas.

Finishing the “Upanayana” thus, Vaamana now becomes a “Brahmachaari”, which means that He has to earn His living only by obtaining food from others (Obtaining “Bhiksha”). He shouldn’t cook or prepare any food for himself. This is an extremely important rule that a Brahmachaari should follow, until he becomes a “Grihsasta” (Family man). Thus, little Vaamana starts going around everywhere with a small vessel, requesting people to offer him with “Bhiksha”. It is at this time, Bhagawan Shiva and Mother Paarvati Devi come in person and offer Vaamana the first “Bhiksha”! How fortunate is this little child to get “Bhiksha” directly from these two people? With this, little Vaamana is officially initiated into the “Brahmacharya” and thus he starts learning all the Vedas, Upanishads, etc.

As little Vaamana is growing up, He remembers that there is a single-pointed agenda to His divine birthTo somehow outsmart King Mahabali and reinstate all the three “Lokhas” to Indra and the Devas. It is to be remembered that Aditi had performed the “Payo-Vrata” only for this cause. Now how is this little Vaamana going to execute this purpose? Let us wait till the interesting next episode to find out! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 235 – Aditi performs the “PAYO-VRATA” with staunch austerities!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we had witnessed a resurgence of a kind from the Raakshasas, after they had been cheated and fooled by the Devas during the distribution of the “Amrut”. As the conspiracy unfolded with Mohini occupying the center stage, the Raakshasas realize that they were trapped by a beautiful woman, so as to divert their attention totally from the “Amrut”. Angered by this, and also by the way that Indra regained all his lost wealth and position, a huge war erupts between the two rival camps. As Indra is now all powerful, more than ever before, he ensures that the Raakshasas are chased away to some unknown place, from where, they can never ever imagine to come back to where they were before! Annoyed by this, Diti, the mother of the Raakshasas runs to her husband, Kartama Prajapati and seeks solace and protection for her sons. As this unfolds, we had witnessed the emergence of a Raakshasa by name “Bali”. He is none other than Prahlaada’s grandson. It should be understood that Prahlaada’s son was Virochana and Virochana’s son was Bali. As Bali takes birth in this world, he accepts Sage Shukraachaarya as his “Guru” and with the divine grace of Sage Shukraachaarya, regains all the lost strength! With the newly found strength and power, Bali takes on Indra and Co. singlehandedly and defeats them quite easily. With this, Bali captures all the three “Lokhas” of the world, which was under Indra’s possession till date. Thus, with this, he earned the name “Maha-Bali”.

As Mahabali ensured revenge from the Raakshasas’ side, Aditi, the mother of Devas ran to her husband, Kartama Prajapati to seek solace for her Deva sons! We can witness here, what kind of a headache did Kartama Prajapati has endured every passing day! 🙂 Whenever the Devas were under suffering, Aditi would rush to him, seeking solace. As Kartama Prajapati would find a solution to bring the Devas to normalcy, Diti would run to him, seeking solace for her Raakshasa children’s suffering. This was going on as an endless cycle. It is thus now Aditi’s turn to cry for justice for her sons, Indra and Co. Aditi demands to her husband thus, “I should obtain a son from you, who should be able to defeat this Mahabali, reinstate all the wealth and kingdoms to my son Indra and make him the ruler of the world once again! You should be of help to me for this!” Accordingly, Kartama Prajapati suggests a “Vrata” (Steadfast Spiritual practice) called “Payo-Vrata”.

As Kartama Prajapati suggests this “Payo-Vrata”, he comes up with a huge list of “Do’s and don’t’s”! This is not going to be an easy affair for his wife! Kartama Prajapati explains thus: – This “Vrata” should be commenced during the month of “Panguni” (Normally during March-April of the English calendar that we use today). During this “Panguni” month, the Vrata should be commenced during the auspicious “Shuklapaksha” time period. This “Vrata” should be performed for a period of twelve days. This “Vrata” should be focused towards Bhagawan Vishnu. Moreover, before the “Vrata” is commenced, she should apply sand that was once present in the body of a porcupine, all over her body. Doing thus, Aditi has to fold her hands and pray towards Bhagawan Vishnu thus, “Oh Bhagawan! Please accept my prayers and austerities and wash out all my sins that I had accumulated all these days, months and years! Thus, please bless me with a son who can take on the Raakshasas, defeat them, insult them and chase them away!”

As Aditi is praying Bhagawan thus, she also has to have a small “Vigraha” of Bhagawan Vishnu, perform all the spiritual practices to the “Vigraha” and consume food only once a day. There are restrictions even for the food that she has to consume. That food should have been prepared from milk, and not with water. Normally, today at our homes, we prepare most of our food items with water. But for Aditi, this should not be the case. She has to prepare her food only with milk. Moreover, there should not be any trace of salt, tamarind or spice in the food that she is preparing. In other words, the food should almost be bland in nature. Apart from this, she should offer “Vastra” (clothing) to Bhagawan’s “Vigraha”, “Aabharna” (Ornaments), “Argyam”, “Paadhyam” (Divine water to wash Bhagawan’s hands and feet), and also water for Bhagawan to drink. Along with all these, she should also offer “Gandham” (Sandalwood), “Dhoopam(Divine and sweet-smelling agarbathis), “Deepam” (Performing Aarati), etc.

The story doesn’t end here. Apart from all these, she has to give huge quantities of ghee, jaggery, etc. as a “Daanam” to all people around her. Along with this, she has to chant Bhagawan’s divine names 108 times every day, without a break. All these should be done continuously for a period of twelve days. Thus, according to Kartama-Prajapati, if Aditi performs these austerities to perfection, she would be able to obtain a son who would totally be capable of taking over the Raakshasas and restore Indra’s prime position. Buoyed by her husband’s instructions, Aditi was all excited to undertake this stern “Payo-Vrata” with all her will power. She commences the “Payo-Vrata” and is now at the verge of completing it successfully by following all the instructions as mentioned by Kartama-Prajapati.

What is going to be the result of this austere “Payo-Vrata”? Did Bhagawan respond to Aditi’s austere practices? What was Bhagawan’s response to Aditi? Did He incarnate? An interesting event is going to unfold in our next episode! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 234 – The advent of King “MAHA-BALI” – Setting up the context!!!

Little Krishna

The previous episode witnessed the culmination of the all-important “Mohini Avatar” and what conspired in this event. As the divine nectar called “Amrut” evolves from Bhagawan Dhanvantri from beneath the “Ocean of Milk”, a huge war of words erupt between both the Deva and the Raakshasas camps as to who should be served first. To put an end to this fight and also to protect the Devas and the world from the potential wrath of the Raakshasas, Bhagawan Vishnu incarnates Himself as Mohini – A divine, beautiful and an attractive lady and comes to the scene to serve the Amrut to both the camps. The ploy was very clear here – The Devas would get the Amrut and the Raakshasas would only get mere water, by making them fall for Mohini’s beauty. This plan worked out almost, until Simhika’s sons Raahu and Kethu tried to play spoilsport. They realized the ploy done by the Devas and Bhagawan Vishnu, and hence dressed themselves up like Devas and joined them on the other side. Upon realizing Raahu and Kethu being amidst the Devas’ camp, Chandra (Moon) and Surya (Sun) indicate the malpractice, and thus Mohini was alerted. As she comes near Raahu and Kethu, she realizes the plot and instead of serving the Amrut to them, she swings her spoon on them in such a hard way that their heads are cut off! This is why we’re referring Raahu and Kethu even today as “Chaaya Grahas”, wherein they have only their bodies and not their heads. They can influence the other planets only with their shadows (Chaaya).

Thus with this ploy, the Raakshasas are denied their “due share” of the divine nectar. They realize quickly that the Devas have gained a huge upper hand by consuming the divine nectar, which has made them immortal completely. Indra has also attained all his wealth and position as before. This gain has however come to the Devas by “trumping” the Raakshasas and Bhagawan Vishnu Himself has enacted this huge conspiracy!

Readers might be remembering that this king called “Kartama Prajapati” had two wives – Diti and Aditi. We’ve discussed this in our earlier episodes and readers might recollect this at their convenience. It is to be noted that all the children that were born to Diti were the Raakshasas and the Daanavas, whereas, the children that were born to Aditi were all the Devas, including Indra, Chandra and Surya. Both these Deva and Raakshasa camps were traditional enemies and whenever the Devas gain an upper hand over the Raakshasas, Diti would go to her husband, Kartama Prajapati and complain to him. She would request him to do something to protect her Raakshasa children from the wrath of the Devas! Similarly, when it is the other way round, Aditi would run to her husband, Kartama Prajapati and complain that her Deva children are suffering in the hands of the Raakshasas. Every now and then, this complaining would thus keep happening and this time, it is the turn of Diti to complain to her husband. Upon realizing that her Raakshasa children were right royally fooled by the Devas, she immediately runs to Kartama Prajapati with a huge list of complaints! Kartama Prajapati understands the situation and realizes that it has gone out of his hands now. A huge war between the Devas and Raakshasas is going to be an inevitable event and is on the cards any time from now.

It is at this time, Sage Sukhaachaarya continues narrating this event further beautifully and eventually comes to describe about an important person called “Bali Chakravarthy” or famously known as “Mahabali”. Now who is this Mahabali? We’ve already witnessed the Prahlaada Charitra isn’t it? After Hiranya-Kashibu was killed by Bhagawan Narasimha, Prahlaada leads his life further, gets married and obtains a son by name “Virochana”. This Virochana grows up, gets married and obtains a son by name “Bali”. This Bali was a righteous king and accepts Sage Shukraachaarya as his “Guru”. With the divine grace of his Guru Shukraachaarya, Bali regains all his lost powers and strength. With the strength that he had obtained just now, Bali wages a huge war against Indra and the Devas. We’ve witnessed just now that war clouds were surrounding both the camps and it was Bali who led the Raakshasas from the front in waging a bitter battle against Indra and Co. Eventually, with the divine strengths and powers that he had obtained from Guru Shukraachaarya, Bali manages to defeat Indra and make him run for his money! Thus at the end of the ghastly war, Bali abducts all the wealth and position that Indra had possessed, and once again renders Indra powerless and as a popper! Thus, Bali becomes “Maha-Bali” with enormous control over all the three “Lokhas” of the world and eventually chases Indra away to a far off location, from where he could never return back to his normalcy!

Upon seeing this, Aditi, mother of the Devas, now runs to her husband, Kartama Prajapati, seeking solace for her sons! She goes and complains thus, “Oh King! Look at the plight of my sons! They’re being tortured, harassed and being made to run for shelter by these arrogant sons of Diti! You’ve to somehow intervene atleast at this stage and try to protect my sons from the wrath of the Raakshasas”!

Hearing this from his wife, Kartama Prajapati thinks of a plan to restore normalcy between his two camps of children. What is going to be his plan of action? Let’s wait till the next episode to find out! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 233 – Mohini outsmarts Raahu and Kethu – Why do we have solar & lunar eclipses???

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we were amidst a crucial moment wherein the pot of divine “Amrut” is extracted and the distribution of this “Amrut” is about to begin. As the Deva and the Raakshasa camps are readying themselves to taste the divine nectar, there is again an ego clash as to who goes first in the turn. As usual, the Raakshasas are doubtful over the Devas whether they would run away with the “Amrut” by hatching some conspiracy at the last moment. It is at this point, Bhagawan decides that the Devas alone cannot handle this situation as the war of words are slowly getting out of control. Thus, Bhagawan takes the incarnation of a beautiful and an attractive woman by name “Mohini”, to come and distribute the “Amrut” among both the camps. As Mohini walks her way through, as expected, the Raakshasas were totally drowned in her beauty! The trap was laid perfectly and the Raakshasas fell right royally into it! As Mohini instructs, the “Amrut” would be served to the “weaker” Devas first and to the “stronger” Raakshasas next, the Raakshasas couldn’t really raise their voice beyond a point, as they were totally blinded by her beauty.

As per the protocol thus, Mohini starts the distribution and the Devas are getting their due share of the “Amrut”. The Raakshasas are patiently waiting for their turn, and are admiring the way in which Mohini is serving the nectar. They were eagerly waiting to have Mohini near them as soon as the Devas leave the place. However, there was one Raakshasi by name Simhika, who had two sons, Raahu and Kethu. These two people were smart in their thinking, and upon looking at Mohini serving the Devas, they started having doubts of a ploy being played here. Also, as the quantity of the “Amrut” in the pot was declining to very alarmingly low levels, and as the Raakshasas were totally blinded to this beautiful woman, Raahu and Kethu decided that they’ve had enough. They decide to outsmart this Mohini, who is trying to fool the Raakshasas wit her beauty. Thinking thus, both of them dress themselves in the form of Devas and sit amidst the Deva camp! The idea behind this “outsmarting” plan is to somehow get their due share of the “Amrut”, without being cheated.

As this is unfolding, Chandra and Surya (Sun and the Moon) who are amongst the Deva camp, see Raahu and Kethu switching sides illegally! They immediately show signs to Mohini that these two have switched over and to somehow avoid them. Mohini immediately realizes the ploy and assure both Chandra and Surya that she would take care of it. All these communications happen with just a wink of the eyes. Now as Mohini comes closer to Raahu and Kethu, rather than serving the “Amrut” to them, she sways the spoon on their faces and with that force, both these Raakshasas lose their heads along with their neck portions! This is why even today, when we visit the “Nava-Graha” section in any temple, we would see that both the Raahu and Kethu idols without a face! Only their bodies would be visible.

Also, this is the reason why solar and lunar eclipses keep happening today. As Raahu and Kethu realize that it was Surya and Chandra who outsmarted them by exposing their false identity to Mohini, even today, whenever the moon and the sun come in a straight line, it is this Raahu and Kethu who makes both the sun and the moon caste their shadows upon the earth, so that there is a total blackout! This is why these Raahu and Kethu are called “Chaaya Grahas”, wherein they keep casting their impacts with just their shadows, unlike the other planets which cause impacts by their own movements.

Now coming back to the event thus, the “Amrut” was equally distributed amongst the Devas and the Raakshasas totally lost the plot here! As Mohini now comes to the Raakshsaas camp, she has another pot in her hands, which contains mere water in it! Engrossed with her beauty, the Raakshasas failed to realize that they are being served water, instead of the Amrut. They were overtaken with feelings of lust towards Mohini and thus drank whatever she gave in their hands! Thus finally, the Devas have got the Amrut and with that, they’ve become immortal. Indra too eventually regains all his lost glory and wealth, by seeking forgiveness to Goddess Mahalakshmi. Finally, the Raakshasas are left empty-handed and as the process of distribution comes to an end, they realize the huge conspiracy that had been levelled on them, and thus with this episode, the enmity between the Deva and the Raakshasas camps have only increased manifold!

What happens next? What are the aftereffects of this ploy on the Raakshasas? Let us wait till the next episode to find out! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 232 – Bhagawan Vishnu incarnates as “Mohini” to serve the “Amrut”!!!

Little Krishna

We’re currently at an crucial juncture amidst the all-important “Mohini Avatar” of Bhagawan Vishnu and what conspired amongst the Devas and the Raakshasas, which lead to Bhagawan incarnating as Mohini. We’ve witnessed in the previous couple of episodes that Indra had lost his position and wealth, owing to a curse from Goddess Mahalakshmi and subsequently Bhagawan Vishnu assures him of a solution thus. The plan was to drill the divine “Ocean of Milk”, by teaming up of both the Devas and the Raakshasas together, as it is a strenuous task. Indra and Co. agree to the plan and however, Bhagawan Vishnu hatches a last-minute conspiracy plan within it, wherein the Raakshasas are to hold the head portion of the snake called “Vaasuki”, with which the drilling is happening. The Devas occupy the tail end of the snake as they too contribute to the drilling process. As the drilling goes on and on, snake Vaasuki starts emitting fumes of poison from his mouth and since the Raakshasas are directly exposed to the head portion of the snake, they start inhaling all the poisonous fumes as they are drilling. This gradually weakens them, without even knowing what is happening. This is where, Bhagawan Vishnu had mentioned to Indra that if the Raakshasas are steadfast in holding the head portion of the snake, he should let them do so, without any ego clash with them.

Continuing with the event thus, as the drilling goes on, we’ve witnessed that Bhagawan Vishnu takes over at a point when the Devas and Raakshasas become tired. As the drilling continues, many items emerge from beneath the ocean floor, including a pot of treacherous poison, which was neutralized by Bhagawan Shiva Himself. Subsequently, a horse, an elephant, and then Goddess Mahalakshmi herself emerges out from the “Ocean of Milk”. As Indra sees Goddess Mahalakshmi emerging out, he immediately seeks forgiveness for his mistake to Her, and thereby regaining all his lost wealth. Finally, as the drilling process continues on and on, Bhagawan Dhanvantri emerges with a huge pot of “Amrut” – The divine nectar.

As the “Amrut” emerges, the Devas and Raakshasas are delighted upon seeing it. Bhagawan Dhanvantri offers the pot of “Amrut” to Bhagawan Vishnu as both the camps are looking on eagerly at it. Within the minds of both the Devas and Raakshasas, debates start raging as to who is more eligible to have the “Amrut”. We should remember here that both the camps had given up the drilling process mid-way and it was Bhagawan who helped them complete the task. However, both the camps are now trying to adjudge who is eligible amongst them to have the “Amrut”. Indra and Co. are of the opinion that since Bhagawan Vishnu had given this idea only to them, and since it was Indra himself who took the lead in materializing the whole process, the “Amrut” rightly belong to the Devas only and not to the Raakshasas. On the other hand, the Raakshasas are of the opinion that Indra was a popper when this plan was made, and since he and his camp were “zeroes”, the Raakshasas came to their “support” at the right time. Hence, the “Amrut” rightly belonged only to the Raakshasa camp.

As this debate is raging high now, Bhagawan Vishnu quickly analyzes the situation and comes with a solution again. Bhagawan knows that if the “Amrut” is given to the Raakshasas, there is never going to be a greater disaster than that! If the Raakshasas become immortal, nothing can stop them and hence, they would use that power to destroy the whole world. This should somehow be stopped. This is where, Bhagawan has to strategize – On one hand, the Raakshasas should be denied the “Amrut” and on the other hand, they shouldn’t know that they’re being denied of it. What can He do? After analyzing various pros and cons, Bhagawan concludes thus, “The weak points of these Raakshasas are women! The moment they see a beautiful woman in front of them, they would be mesmerized at that very moment, and thus we can execute our plan perfectly! Hence, the only way to outsmart the Raakshasas is to take the form of a beautiful woman and flaunt in front of them!”

Thinking thus, Bhagawan takes an incarnation of a beautiful and an attractive woman by name “Mohini” and comes to the place where both the Deva and the Raakshasa camps are waiting for the “Amrut”. Upon seeing this beautiful young woman approaching them, the Raakshasas were stunned beyond words! They’ve never seen such a beautiful woman ever in their lives! The plan is starting to work out perfectly here! They start getting desires and feelings for the beautiful woman thus! As the beautiful Mohini comes near both the camps, she introduces herself thus, “Oh Devas and Raakshasas! My name is Mohini and I’ve been sent by Bhagawan Vishnu to distribute this “Amrut” equally amongst all of you! Hence, please take your positions very quickly. All the Devas should assemble on one side and the Raakshasas on the other!”

Accordingly, the Devas and Raakshasas have taken their respective positions. Now comes the next question – Whom should be served first? Devas or Raakshasas? A huge war of words emerge between the two camps! As Mohini is witnessing this, she comes to a conclusion thus, “Oh Raakshasas! Let me give you a solution for this as well – Now all of us know that the Devas are weak! Hence, let us finish off with the weaker ones and chase them away from here! All of us know how powerful you guys are. Hence, let us wait a little further till I finish these powerless Devas off!”

As the beautiful Mohini says thus, the Raakshasas couldn’t reject her proposal, as they were attracted and blinded to her physical beauty! Thus the deal was done! Mohini starts distributing the “Amrut” to all the Devas one by one. Upon seeing the beauty with which Mohini distributing the “Amrut” to the Devas, the Raakshasas were totally baffled! At one point, they even forgot the “Amrut” and all their eyes were fixed upon Mohini. They were admiring the beauty of this woman and the way she exhibited her hospitality.

It is at this point, wherein there was a Raakshasa by name Simhika. She had two sons – Raahu and Kethu. Both of them were puzzled by what is happening here. He thinks within himself thus, “Oh wow!! I think there is a huge conspiracy going on here. I really doubt who this Mohini is. I do not think that she is an ordinary woman. I think this is a sabotage plan to seduce the Raakshasas with a woman, thereby distributing all the Amrut to the Devas only. By this plan, the Raakshasas are made to look like fools! Ultimately, by the way in which the distribution is happening, I don’t think the Raakshasas would even get a single drop of the Amrut and these Raakshasas are not realizing the conspiracy here! Rather, they’re all lost in the beauty of this Mohini and is not raising a single word in protest against what she is doing! Hence, we should think of a plan and do something to sabotage this attempt!”

Thinking thus, both Raahu and Kethu hatch a counter conspiracy plan to that of Mohini. What is their plan going to be? How are they going to execute it? Let’s wait till the next episode to find out! Stay tuned! 😊

Episode # 231 – Bhagawan Vishnu hatches a huge conspiracy plan with Indra!!!

Little Krishna

In the previous episode, we had witnessed the commencement of the major event that unfolded, which led to Bhagawan incarnating as “Mohini”. We had witnessed how Indra, leader of the Devas had to lose all his wealth and kingdom due to a curse from Goddess Mahalakshmi. As a result of this, Indra and his Devas became poppers overnight! Unable to bare this condition and also the alarming threat of attack from the Raakshasas, Indra runs to Bhagawan Vishnu for help! As Indra cries to Bhagawan, He gives a solution to Indra that he should go and team up with the Raakshasas and start drilling the divine Ocean of milk. Upon drilling it, a huge pot of “Amrut” (Divine nectar) would emerge and if the Devas consume it, they would become immortal henceforth and eventually regain all their lost wealth and power.

Accordingly, the Devas and Raakshasas join hands with each other, perhaps for the first time ever in history! The common goal was to obtain the “Amrut” and becoming immortal by consuming it. In due course of yesterday’s episode, we had witnessed Bhagawan Vishnu whispering a secret to Indra before he sets out for the mission. A huge conspiracy was already hatched! We shall know the conspiracy as we progress further with the event! 😊

As the drilling process commences, the Devas and Raakshasas are steadfast in their approach initially and with lot of enthusiasm. As the drilling becomes more and more strenuous and as days, months, years go by, the enthusiasm becomes lesser, as they become tired. At one point, all of them run back to Bhagawan Vishnu and seek refuge to finish off the mission. Compassionate as He is, Bhagawan Vishnu takes it upon himself to continue the process of drilling further. As the drilling continues, several items start coming out! There’s atlast some light at the end of the tunnel. The first to come out was a huge pot of intense poison. This poison had to be neutralized before proceeding further and this is where, Bhagawan Shiva comes to the rescue. He takes it upon himself and starts consuming the poison. Upon seeing her Husband consuming a deadly poison, Goddess Parvati rushes forward and catches Bhagawan Shiva’s neck, so as to prevent the poison from entering His body. As a result, Bhagawan Shiva’s throat and face become blue in colour and the poison doesn’t enter further into his body. This is the reason why Bhagawan Shiva obtains a divine name called “Neelakanta”.

Now that the poison is successfully neutralized, the drilling continues further, many other items start emerging. After the poison, a divine horse called “Ucchaisravas” emerges out. Subsequently a huge tree called “Paarijaatha” with blossoming fresh flowers and fruits emerges out. The drilling continues further still. It is to be recollected that the “Amrut” is the final goal and it is still far away from becoming a reality. Bhagawan Vishnu continues the strenuous drilling process further and further without any break! As Indra was watching on, there emerged two elephants and amidst the two elephants, Goddess Mahalakshmi Herself emerged out!

As Goddess Mahalakshmi emerges, Indra immediately rushes to Her, falls on Her feet and seeks forgiveness. Compassionate as our Divine Mother is, Goddess Mahalakshmi forgives Indra for his mistake and thus regains all his wealth and power. Finally as the drilling continues further, Bhagawan Dhanvantri emerges out with a huge golden pot of “Amrut” in it! The mission is finally accomplished! After years of drilling and strenuous effort from the Devas, Raakshasas and most importantly Bhagawan Vishnu and Bhagawan Shiva, the “Amrut” emerges out! Let us keep this story at this point, and now we should rewind a little bit backwards to understand an important point here.

As I had mentioned earlier that Bhagawan Vishnu had told a secret to Indra before he left for the drilling process, here is the secret and the subsequent conspiracy – When the snake “Vaasuki” was employed for the drilling process, a debate emerged as to who would hold the snake’s head portion and who would hold the tail. Indra suggested that, the Devas were anytime a step higher in position and power as compared to the Raakshasas and hence, the Devas had the sole right to be on the head-side of the snake. However, the Raakshasas countered Indra’s claim by saying thus, “Oh Indra! Don’t be so proud of yourself! You had come to us seeking refuge only because you’re powerless and position-less at the moment! Do not forget that you’re a popper now! Hence, we would only be at the head-side of the snake!” As this debate starts ravaging, Indra quickly remembers what Bhagawan had said to him in his ears. Bhagawan had said thus, “Oh Indra! If the Raakshasas want to be at the head-side position claiming superiority over you, let them do whatever they wish to. Don’t debate and start fighting with them! I shall take care of the rest!” Indra quickly remembers these words from Bhagawan and agrees to the Raakshasas’ claim. As the drilling process commences, snake Vaasuki lets out fumes of poison because of the squeezing. As the Raakshasas are at the head-side of the snake, all the poisonous fumes that the snake is letting out, are being inhaled by the Raakshasas and because of this, they’re gradually becoming powerless. This is the big conspiracy that Bhagawan Vishnu creates, so as to protect the Devas from the Raakshasas. As the Devas were on the tail side of the snake, they were not exposed to the poisonous fumes.

Thus, because of this, the Raakshasas have slowly started losing their strength and power rather too quickly as compared to the Devas. Now how is this going to impact the final assault? How is this “Amrut” going to be shared amongst both the camps? A fascinating and an enthralling episode awaits us tomorrow! Stay tuned! 😊
