We’re at the midst of a very important juncture now wherein the village of Gokula is being pounded continuously by a huge “cloud-burst”, thanks to the arrogance and fury unleashed by Indra with the help of his “able deputy”, Varuna Bhagawan. All this is happening right under the nose of Bhagawan Bala-Krishna, who in fact, is orchestrating the entire show! He’s just waiting for the right time to teach Indra a befitting lesson for all what he’s doing. By unleashing his fury on Gokula and by giving into Bhagawan Bala-Krishna’s “instigations” against him, Indra is clearly falling into the trap laid by Bhagawan Bala-Krishna, only to be shown his place sooner or later. As the rains are pounding Gokula continuously, all the people, animals, etc. in the village are scampering for shelter and protection. Bhagawan Bala-Krishna now swings into action after realizing that it is time to take things under His control. He ultimately has the responsibility of protecting all His devotees, isn’t it?
Thus, Bhagawan Bala-Krishna takes the initiative and drives the entire village along with its residents, cows and other animals towards the Govardhana Mountain. He appeals to the village that all of them pray to the Govardhana Mountain, to which all the offerings were made. Bhagawan Bala-Krishna assures that by praying to the Govardhana Mountain, it is going to be the savior of all of them! As He says thus, He quickly advances towards the Govardhana Mountain and checks the dimensions of it with His naked eyes for a moment! Bhagawan Bala-Krishna thinks within Himself thus, “Okay! Now enough is enough! If I succeed in lifting up this Govardhana Mountain in my hands, the entire village can come under the mountain base and this would act as a shelter from the blasting rains fuelled by Indra. In this way, the rains fuelled by Indra and Varuna would be ineffective, as not even a single drop of water would seep into the mountain. Let me teach them a lesson by lifting this mountain with my hands and through this, let them know that this Krishna is not an ordinary boy to be grossly underestimated!”
Thinking thus, within the next few moments, Bhagawan Bala-Krishna quickly bends down towards the Govardhana Mountain, offers His respects to it and tries to lift the entire mountain with His small hands! As this was happening, the entire ground shook for a few seconds and this took the entire Gokula village by surprise and shock! All the elders including Mother Yashoda and Nandagopa were shell-shocked to see what was happening in front of them! Their little son, hardly 7-8 years old is trying to lift a huge mountain? He’s not even the size of an ant, as compared to the Govardhana Mountain! How is this going to happen? As the people look on with awe, Bhagawan Bala-Krishna succeeds in lifting the entire mountain in His hands! Moreover, the entire mountain rests in clean balance over His small finger, if not on the entire palm atleast! What a miracle is this! How can a little boy balance a huge mountain on His small finger? The entire village was speechless with shock!
As Bhaagwan Bala-Krishna lifts the Govardhana Mountain on His little finger, He appeals to all the people out there to come under the shelter. Bhagawan Bala-Krishna says thus, “Oh people! Now look at how the Govardhana Mountain is acting as a savior for all of us! All your offerings to the Govardhana Mountain have now born fruit! Now this mountain is going to give shelter for all of us and is going to render Indra’s ploy useless. Let him keep pounding with the rains. Now who cares? All of you – Please come under this Govardhana Mountain and accept its blessings!” Saying thus, Bhagawan Bala-Krishna ensures that the entire village, including the cows, animals, birds, etc. fit under the huge Govardhana Mountain and is protected from the torrential rains pounding Gokula. This is how Bhagawan Bala-Krishna saves the entire village and protects His devotees, and this is why we worship Bhagawan Bala-Krishna as the “Govardhana-Giridhaari”, which means, the little boy who has the Govardhana Mountain in His hands, so as to protect His devotees.
So for today, let us all use this opportunity to worship our dear “Govardhana-Giridhaari” with all our “Bhakti”, and let us wait till the next episode to witness what happened to Indra and Co. henceforth! Stay tuned! 🙂
